Drishyam 3 : Yet again, Another ruthless act from George Kutty, but this time it feels weird and not needed!

Premise

We see a lots of twisted tales but “Drishyam” takes top place in most of the Indian twisted tales! Jeethu Joseph’s narrative, Mohan Lal’s charisma always bring the uniqueness to the films. The earlier two parts had great twists packed with gripping narrations.

This third installment, although had engaging narration and unexpected twist(you wouldn’t expect this) but the timing of the twist and outcome from the element of shock, wouldn’t go well with most the audience! Why would George kutty behave this way? He is a caring father. Loving Husband and Mastermind criminal. But will he do THATTTT to save his family?

My Expectations & Films Progress

See, Every film goer sits to experience the “AWW” kind of experience from Jeethu Joseph. He has already done that many times earlier. So, as a fan of his shocking lines in the films, i travelled almost 7 kms to watch the film in it’s original language (Malayalam). The theatre was packed with Malayalam audience. Families turned in good numbers and they were showing their enthusiasm in their language. It felt happy to be listening to proper kochi slangs in Hyderabad.

Film started with  Mohan Lal as a producer, Biju Menon as a hero portraying the role of George kutty. The first half revolves around the After effects of “Part 2” and Jeethu Joseph didn’t give any shocking experiences for audience.

I knew , Jeethu Joseph might give us something in the second half  of the film, but he made us wait till the climax. The narration till then, had ups and downs but they wouldn’t give us any memorable moments.

Climax part was hurried up . Knowing George Kutty’s behaviour, this might shock the characters in the film. But the audience who were sitting and waiting for the banger, needee a better film.

Twist & Fate of Drishyam 3

The twist had been packed with deceiving narrative and audience had to sit entire 160 minutes to experience it. The earlier films had twists but they didn’t create any negative impression on us.

But, this film would definitely create the negative impression on George kutty’s role and the way he behaved towards the climax was a  shocker. He used to be a caring father. He used to be a lovable family man. His ruthless act almost made the 160 minutes of time worthless!

Final Word

If you are a fan of Drishyam movies, this installment would make you leave theatres half-heartedly!

The narration was slow and twists didn’t land according to the writer’s vision. Perhaps, on location changes might have affected the process.

I watched the movie in the original language (Malayalam) and as a fan of Drishyam movies, i couldn’t digest the fact that this film was only made as a money spinner! Better screenplay and characters’ behaviour could have changed the outcome of the film.
